Will it crack? experiment

Quarantine

Today on quarantine we did a science experiment, our experiment was dropping and egg and how we can prevent it cracking. I used straws while my sister used balloons both materials had their ups and downs like straws are strong but could damage the egg on impacts but balloons provide a soft landing but are a very weak material, I used my straws to make a triangle in a triangle it looked like this :
a big mess of straws but it worked my sisters one was made of balloons and a plastic bag for a parachute here it is
And finally the drop test. We started with a low drop then higher and higher until we started throwing them in the air, Saffy was clearly winning all I could do was hope one of her balloons popped. She threw her contraption into the air and as soon as it hit the ground one of her balloons popped and her egg flew through the sky and landed in a pile of shell and yolk, I had done it I won!

Question time: Have you ever done this activity? if so did you do the same thing we did or not let us know!

  1. Hi Jasper, that was a great activity to do leading up to Easter! Did you get that from the parish activity ideas? I did that challenge once when I first went to high school, I remember it being really fun to do with my class. Would you make any modifications if you repeated the experiment?
