This week for writing our task was to sum up what we did at camp and do examples of the 6C's I really enjoyed camp and I really enjoyed writing here is what I wrote
In Term 3 week 8 we went to camp right after lockdown we went to Wainui YMCA camp. Before we left we got put into groups. I was in a group with most of my friends. We called ourselves the crazy horses. We decided on the name in honor of our favourite movie and I had a blast. I felt really challenged at camp which I really enjoyed because most of the schools don't really challenge you, I'm afraid of heights and there were 2 activities abseiling and high ropes. But that's not the focal point of this writing, It's about what I enjoyed at that was the diamond smugglers game and I think it gives me the best examples of the 6C’s
The diamond smugglers game consisted of: the instructors at the YMCA camp, The children and some corn kernels which we called the diamonds. The aim of the game was to get from one side of the campsite to the other and not get caught by the instructors. If you were unfortunate enough to get tagged you would give them a “diamond” and keep going. If you made it to the other side you would get a coloured line on our wrist that indicated which side we had been to.
I think it is very important to use the c’s in this game. The most common one I saw was communication because you heard people talking about strategies and if they had noticed an instructor and their where-abouts. Another huge two C’s I saw were critical thinking along with creativity. I had to think critically to get out of tight situations along with creativite ways to out maneuver the instructors. The smart way we came up with is a free pass if we answered a riddle. Fortunately the instructors were not prepared for this, allowing us to memorize the previous answers to already used riddles. And get a free pass I ended up with twelve lines on me, Meaning that I got there and back twelve times. And finally a giant “C” I saw because people would get back up and keep trying even though they had gotten tagged and then they would overcome those problems by trying something different next time.
Overall I feel that I represented St Francis and the Character C the most because I showed grit and work through hard tasks. I kept pushing, I really enjoyed the camp and would go again if given the chance. I feel as if I could use the strategies I leart at camp in real life situations if it's in a game of infection or approaching a job application a different way.
Question time! what is your favorite game?
