🌲❤️The Treasure Hunt Through the Kindness Forest ❤️🌲

PBL - Term 1

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about kindness and the big question was: How can we build community through our actions?
4
First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness and build a sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organised into groups where we had to unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could spread community and kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we would offer something that was free and would make others happy.

We created an action plan and our idea for our action plan was to do a treasure hunt for Kakano with lollies at the end as the treasure

Reflection:
For our final product our group was a treasure hunt for kakano with lollies at the end as the treasure

How did our action build a sense of community in the school? It makes the kakano trust us and believe that we a kind humans and will like to pick us to do activities with them
4
I contributed by designing posters helping the kakano do the treasure hunt and assured that the people that competed got a lolly and just helped in general

I think the PBL might impact on others by making them happy and growing trust in one another and so the Kakano might choose us in other activities because they trust us

What I learned about working with others was there a main people in a group

The worker (Thrives to make the project perfect) Halfway (Works a normal amount) And The Slacker (The One who slacks of and does a tiny bit)

but if they all work at halfway the’ll finish it much easier but if they are all tired then nothing will get done this in sort of the same with the worker(s) but the worker(s) will get stressed and do to much work and cover up the actual work and the people review it will only see facts and the hard work will be covered by more hard work

❓Question Of The Day❓( so what are you Slacker / Halfway / Worker )¡

Our Perfect PBL

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance M&Ms for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because ... We Knew How to use paper and string Much better from before because you learn from your mistakes

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this…We made an Undertale eye Spy Which wasn’t a hit so next time we're gonna do something else

 My Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was Working Hard And Getting $30
Even though Nobody Came And i'm surprised that people Came and played

Next time I would Work Harder and do more work In a smaller amount of time and pick a more popular Item to make

My Perfect P.B.L Blog Post

This term our Project Based Learning has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is when your family
celebrates occasions like Christmas or Easter.

Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage.
I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated
on Maori legends. I read : Anansi Brings Stories to the World, Crow brought light

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script,
some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music
and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Photo:

Reflection: For our production I contributed by being a dancing bush with my friends and in the photo I painted and made an emoji.

I think the show might impact on others by : how much work we put in to our performance.

What I learned about working with others was cooperating with them in different ways.

Culture = Everyone

let me tell you I am 26.3% German and i'm 4.8% French

The traditions my family include are, Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, ETC.

Xmas 2010 Gingerbread Cake with one kid helping and one in the oven!On Christmas we open our presents with our cousins from our German side, on Christmas eve.  My mum makes a ginger bread house that me and my sister help decorate and we don't get to eat it until new years day.

A new tradition we are starting is on most Fridays we go to our other cousins house for Fish And Chip Friday.

My Favourite tradition we do is when my parents put a piece of string leading to our presents is for our birthdays and my mum always makes sure we get our own cake like no other.

My mum made this cake when I was little and into Moshi Monsters
